On July 14, 2025, the New York City Council, through a resolution introduced by Council Member Rita C. Joseph, officially declared July 26 as Haitian Konpa Day in New York City. This designation established an annual day of recognition celebrating one of Haiti's most influential cultural traditions.

The mission of Konpa Day NYC is to organize and strengthen the official observance of Haitian Konpa Day by bringing together artists, cultural leaders, community organizations, and stakeholders to create an annual celebration that highlights Haitian culture, empowers emerging talent, expands cultural awareness, and fosters community pride.
